The Atlanta Marathon (ages 18 & up) is the perfect opportunity for both first-timers and seasoned runners to discover Atlanta one mile at a time, while achieving their marathon goals. Below is general information regarding the event.

Getting to the Race and Parking
Plenty of parking will be available on race day in the Atlantic Station parking garage. Please plan on arriving at least one hour prior to the start to allow plenty of time to park, check in your gear and get to the start line. Below are directions for getting to the race:
From I-85 Southbound
Head south on I-85 exit 17th Street. Turn right on 17th Street. Atlantic Station will be on your right, and signs will direct you to the parking deck.
From I-75 Southbound
Head south on I-75, exit on Northside Drive and take a right. Continue straight on Northside Drive until you reach 17th Street. Turn left onto 17th Street. Atlantic Station will be on your left, and signs will direct you to the parking deck.
From I-75/85 Northbound
Head north, and exit on 17th Street. Turn left on 17th Street. Atlantic Station will be on your right, and signs will direct you to the parking deck.
Please note- 16th Street will close at 6:45 a.m. on race morning.

Course Time Limit
The marathon course has a 6 ½ hour time limit (14:53 mile pace). The course will close once marathoners doing a 6 ½ hour pace have passed. Learn more about the course here.
Fluids and Fuel
Water will be located in the start area and fluid stations with water and POWERade will be located along the marathon course approximately every mile and a half, and ACCEL GEL stations will be located near miles eight and 20.
Cheer Zones

Shirts and Awards
All Atlanta Marathon participants will receive a Nike long-sleeve performance shirt, pint glass and a commemorative finisher's medal. View last the 2011 finisher’s medal here.
Awards will be given on race day to the overall male and female finishers and to the first masters male and female finishers. Awards will be mailed to the top three in each age division – 18-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 and 75+ (excluding the prize money winners).
Post-Race Party
After the race, finishers, family and friends can celebrate in the post-race area. Live music will be provided for everyone to enjoy.
Timing and Results
All participants in the Atlanta Marathon will be timed using the ChronoTrack B-Tag timing system. The lightweight timing tag stays attached to the back of the race number and does not get removed. The B-Tag allows each runner’s time to start as they cross the start line, and their net finish time is calculated when the runner crosses the finish line.
Results and Atlanta Marathon finisher's certificates will be available the evening of October 28, 2012.
