Course- FAQ's

Will water stops be available along the relay course?
Yes, water and POWERade will be available every mile and a half of the marathon course, and each relay leg will pass by at least three fluid stations.

Is the relay course closed to traffic?
No, runner’s lanes will be separated from traffic lanes by cones—please stay inside the cones at all times. For your safety, volunteers and police officers will monitor the course.

What is the distance of each relay leg? 
The approximate distance for each relay leg is:
Leg 1 – 5.5 miles
Leg 2 - 8.4 miles
Leg 3 – 5.1 miles
Leg 4 – 7.2 miles 

What if I need to quit partway through the race? 
If you feel you are unable to complete your leg of the relay and need to drop out, move to the ride side of the road and look for a course volunteer for assistance contacting the nearest "sag wagon". A "sag wagon" will also sweep the course reopens to traffic.  Aid stations will also be located approximately every two miles along the course and offer assistance.  A staffed medical tent is available at the finish area.  

Are there any items that aren't allowed on the course?
For your safety and that of others, we do not allow the following items on the course: any wheeled conveyance including baby strollers, inline skates, skateboards, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, or headphones or mp3 players.

Is there a time limit for the relay?
All relay teams must be able to complete the marathon in six and a half hours (approximately 14:53 mile pace).  The course will reopen to traffic once the runners doing a six and half hour pace have passed.
